Setting Up Units and Unit Conversions

Last updated

This guide shows you how to add a unit of measurement in RAAD ERP. Units belong to a unit group and can have a conversion factor. After you save, the unit appears in your Units of Measurement list.

Go to: Masters > Units & Conversions

Step 1: Open the Masters menu

On a computer, point your mouse at the people icon in the left sidebar. On a phone, tap the menu button (☰) at the top left, then tap Masters. The Masters menu opens.

Click or tap Units & Conversions.

The Masters menu. Units & Conversions is highlighted.

Step 2: Click + Add Unit

The Units of Measurement page opens. It lists your units with their ID, name, code, unit group and conversion factor.

Click + Add Unit at the top right. A form opens on the right.

Click + Add Unit to start.

Step 3: Choose the unit group

In the Add Unit form, choose the Unit Group. This field is required.

The unit group must already exist. If you need a new group, create it first under Masters > Unit Groups.

Choose the Unit Group. Fields marked * are required.

Step 4: Enter the unit name, code and conversion factor

Type the Unit Name (for example Kilogram) and the Unit Code (for example KG). Both are required.

Enter the Conversion Factor. This is the factor from the base unit of the group. Leave it as 1 if this unit is the same size as the base unit.

Tick Set as Base Unit only if this unit should be the reference for all conversions in the group.

Enter Unit Name, Unit Code and Conversion Factor.

Step 5: Click Add Unit to save

Click Add Unit at the bottom of the form.

You will see the message "Unit created successfully".

Success message after the unit is saved.

Step 6: Find the new unit in the list

Your new unit now appears in the Units of Measurement list. To find it, type its name in the search box.

Search for the new unit by name.

Important Notes

  • Fields marked * are required. You need a Unit Group, Unit Name and Unit Code.
  • Create the Unit Group first if it does not exist yet (Masters > Unit Groups).
  • The Conversion Factor converts from the base unit of the group. Example: if the base unit is kilogram and 1 kg = 1000 g, the factor for gram is 0.001.
  • Only one unit in a group should be set as the Base Unit.
